Message from National Heart Foundation September 2011
As some of you are aware we have several of our heart health resources, out of stock at present. We would like to take this opportunity to apologies to you for this delay.
The delay is a result of a combination of factors. The main two factors include the following.
Firstly, due to changes to the Angina Action Plan (AAP) . This required consultation with multiple external and internal stakeholders to ensure up to date and robust clinical information. Unfortunately this process has taken longer than we anticipated. However, we now have the current, accurate AAP completed and are in the process of updating many of our resources to include this information. The current AAP is also available on our web site for you to view or down load as necessary on the following link www.heartfoundation.org.nz
Secondly, the Heart Foundation is currently undergoing a re-branding procedure. This involves reviewing the content, style and design of all of our resources. Aimed so that the resources will better meet the needs of you and your clients.
On top of this we have had some staff changes, with Rachel going on maternity leave and Andrea joining the team. We can assure you that most of the out of stock resources will be back in stock within two weeks.
We appreciate that this delay is causing some inconvenience. Please do not hesitate to contact me Stewart Eadie if you need any further information.

Angina Action Plan Update

At last we have a final version of the Angina Action Plan – see PDF here! Please let me know if you can’t open it.
And we have one Angina Action Plan, which covers GTN spray and tablets.
The prime differences between the old and new Angina Action Plan:
1. In the old plan you took 1-2 puffs of your GTN spray, or ½ to 1 GTN tablet. Now you take 1 puff of your GTN spray or 1 GTN tablet.
2. In the old plan you stopped what you were doing and rested for a few minutes before taking your spray. Now, you stop what you are doing, sit down and take 1 puff of your GTN spray or 1 tablet. You do not wait a few minutes before taking your spray or tablet.
3. In the old plan you took 3 lots of spray/tablets over 15 minutes before calling an ambulance. Now, you take 2 lots of spray/tablets over 10 minutes before calling an ambulance.
Please pass on this information to your club members. I will ensure you are sent a few copies for display purposes.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Regards
Jen
